LEMON & GARLIC CLEANSER & PLAQUE REMOVER
An old friend shared this recipe with us years ago, and it has become a trusted staple in our wellness routine ever since. Combining the natural benefits of lemon and garlic, this cleanser is safe to use and has stood the test of time as an effective remedy for maintaining health. It’s particularly beneficial during and after colds or flu, and it’s said to be an ancient Tibetan remedy for clearing plaque from blood vessels.
Ingredients:
- 4 average-sized lemons
- 3 heads of garlic (approximately 20–30 cloves)
Instructions:
- Chop the whole lemons (skin included) and blend them in a food processor into a fine pulp.
- Peel the garlic cloves and process them into a fine pulp.
- Combine the lemon and garlic pulp with 1 liter of water in a pot.
- Slowly bring the mixture to a simmer, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
- Store the mixture in bottles, that have been sterilized, in the fridge. You may strain it if desired (see the photo below of the residue left in the glass...we tend to add a bit more water and then eat the pulp). It lasts for months in the fridge.
Dosage:
- Take 10 to 15 mls, 0.50oz (approximately a tot-sized amount or a Tablespoon) diluted in water (hot or cold) once daily for 3 weeks.
- Stop for 1 week, then repeat if needed. We tend to do this 3 or 4 times a year as a general health tonic.
Notes:
This remedy is effective for cleansing, especially during and after colds or flu. It’s also believed to support cardiovascular health by clearing plaque from blood vessels.
